The Ancient and Modern Maya of Chiapas, Mexico
A Travel Course Designed for Osher Life Long Learning Center of Boise, Idaho

This travel course is designed for students who want to learn about the achievements of the ancient Maya and how their traditions still exist among their modern descendents. Starting in the lush lowlands of the Mexican rain forest, participants will learn about the ancient Maya as they travel through the ruins of Palenque, Bonampak, and Yaxchilan. Then moving up into the highlands, they will meet the modern Maya of San Cristobal, Chamula, and Zinacantan.

The course instructors will be Christopher Powell and Chip Morris, both respected authorities in the field of Maya Studies.

Hotel Arrecife de Coral: Three nights in San Cristobal will be at this hotel two blocks from the walking mall: AC, cable TV, onsite restuarant, internet.

La Aldea: Three nights in Palenque will be here: AC, onsite restuarant, pool, internet.

Escudo Jaguar: One night in Frontera Corozal will be here: bungalows, private baths, fans, onsite restuarant, internet.
