The Ancient Cultures and Natural Wonders of Peru: Machu Picchu, Cuzco, the Sacred Valley, the Paracas Desert and the Nazca Lines
An educational tour led by Archaeologist Dr. Christopher Powell for the friends of Dr. Daniel Miller
This nine learning adventure over the holiday break will bring its partcipants up the Andes and into the heartland of South America's greatest ancient empire. Day trips to ruins and evening lectures will illuminate anicent Inca history, archaeoastronomy, mathematics, and architecture. Cuzco, former capital of the Inca Empire, will be the course's homebase. After two nights in Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, the group will return to Cuzco just in time to join the city in celebrating New Years Eve.. The adventure will end in the Pervuian desert, exploring the dunes, visiting the penguins and sea lions of the Ballestas Islands, and flying over the mysterious Nazca Lines.

Proceeds from MEC Travel courses and tours are the center's primary source of research funding. As such, a portion of the tour costs are tax deductible.
